The difference between the new shimmer products and our Stampin’ Blends

Thank you for your questions this week.

A lot of people are wondering about the difference between the new shimmer products and our Stampin’ Blends, because they can sometimes look similar in projects — but they do very different things.

✨ Stampin’ Blends

Stampin’ Blends

These are alcohol markers used mainly for:

🎨 Colouring stamped images

🎨 Blending light and dark shades together

🎨 Shading and adding depth

🎨 Smooth colouring without streaks

Each combo usually comes with:

💗 A light shade

💗 A dark shade

They are perfect for:

✔ Flowers

✔ Animals

✔ Character images

✔ Detailed colouring

✔ Professional-looking blending

Think of Stampin’ Blends as your colouring tools.

✨ Shimmer Products

(Depending on which new shimmer you mean 😊)

The newer shimmer products are usually designed to add:

✨ Sparkle

✨ Shine

✨ Glow

✨ Metallic effect

✨ Highlighting

These are more for:

💗 Finishing touches

💗 Accent details

💗 Background shimmer

💗 Elegant sparkle on projects

Examples could include:

✨ Shimmer paper

✨ Wink of Stella

✨ Shimmery embossing paste

✨ Shimmer gems

✨ Metallic/glimmer pens

These don’t replace Blends — they ENHANCE your project.

Think of shimmer as your:

🌟 “WOW” factor

🌟 Sparkle layer

🌟 Decorative finish

💡 Simple Way for me to Explain It

🖍 Stampin’ Blends = Colouring & shading

✨ Shimmer = Sparkle & shine

OR…

👉 Blends add the COLOUR

👉 Shimmer adds the MAGIC ✨

🦋🦋🦋

💗 Example

If you stamped a butterfly:

🖍 You’d use Stampin’ Blends to colour the wings.

✨ Then add shimmer to make the wings sparkle and catch the light.

That’s why they work BEAUTIFULLY together

Lets Get Hoping

Lets Get Hopping Round #12 Do you have a favourite technique? Is it something that you turn to time and time again or is it a technique you like to use on those extra special projects? This month is about our favourite technique and I do turn to masking so much as I love the way you can add two or three stamps set to make a card and it can look like a painting. So what is masking?  Its when you stamp out and image first on your card and also onto some Posty notes. Cut out Posty Note and place over the image as I have with the ute. Then you can build up the background behind your image I have used sponging, and the water from the High Tide Stamp set plus I punch out a circle from a Posty Note and Place on my pitcher where I wonted it, Sponging over the Posty Note first then removing and adding some colour and the birds from the High Tide Stamp set.  I Used a Aqua painter and inks to paint my Ute added some more birds and also sponge and used Aqua...
